Project Description

East End Studios is a new, privately operated movie production and creative workplace campus being built in the heart of the Arts District in Los Angeles. The campus will feature 16 sound stages and two 5-level, hybrid mass timber structure creative office buildings, totaling approximately 700,000 GSF. The office buildings will house creative workplaces, production editing suites, event spaces, occupied rooftops, and other support spaces for studio production, including mills and commissaries.

Given my successful completion of the interior design scope for Santa Monica College Arts Complex in 2019, I was engaged to lead the interior design for East End Studios. My role involved producing a comprehensive 100% design development package and a basis of design report covering all interior aspects of the creative office buildings.

Workplace Planning

I undertook the responsibility of designing and planning 10 levels of creative office space, lobbies, lounges, commissaries, and BOH support spaces. This required a deep understanding of the client’s brief and specific requirements for production offices and support facilities.

Interior Design Lead

As the designated Design Lead, I assumed responsibility for the overall design and visioning of the spaces. This encompassed the selection of materials, lighting design, preparation of finish and fixture schedules, and evaluating design decisions in alignment with the budgetary constraints.

Basis of Design Report

Throughout the project, I was responsible for compiling a comprehensive basis of design report with visualizations, which was subsequently presented to the client. My leadership enabled the delivery of an interiors package that was very well received by the client and the investors involved.

Design Documentation

I led the 100% design development documentation package, ensuring seamless coordination with structures, MEP, and lighting to produce a detailed drawing package for costing. Additionally, I played a pivotal role in coordinating the FF&E package for the office fit-outs and curated the material boards for the client.
